1 - Saturday june 28th afternoon:
THE ORSAY MUSEUM (from 2 pm to 5 pm (*))

47 € TTC per person
Price includes: Transportation, ticket and private guide

The Orsay Museum, inaugurated in 1986, shows French and International art from 1848 to 1914, thus bridging the gap between the Louvre museum and the Centre Georges Pompidou. The “Masterpieces’ Tour” takes the vistor through the collections and shows some of the most famous works of art of the 19th century. The tour starts with a short introduction on the architecture of this building, opened as the “Orsay Railroad Station” for the 1900 World Show, and carries on with paintings and sculptures by Courbet, Manet, the Impressionnists, Rodin, Cézanne, Van Gogh...
The 19th century was rich in controversies in art as much as in politics. The collections of the Orsay Museum include some of the most controversial art works created between 1848 and 1914. Courbet, Manet, Carpeaux, the Impressionists, Cezanne, Rodin, the “Douanier Rousseau” had all been in the heart of violent public scandals, being severely attacked by the Institute, critics or by public itself. Today, however, their paintings and sculptures belong to one of the most respectable chapters in Art History. How were these art works perceived a hundred years ago ? What made such a complete change in appreciation possible?

2 - Sunday june 29th morning:
A TOUR OF MONTMARTRE ( from 8:30am to 12:30 am (*))

36 € TTC per person
Price includes: Transportation, ticket and private guide

The tour is a  walk through Montmartre along the locations where the film was set and was actually shot.. Dominated by the “Sacré-Coeur” basilica, Montmartre still has the charm of the old village it used to be before its integration to Paris in 1860. The famous “Place du Tertre” with its picturesque architecture and street painters, the small rustic church “Saint-Pierre”, the narrow and sinuous passages, the romantic “Château des Brouillards” and the surprising vineyards bring the visitor back to the artistic past of “La Butte Montmartre” (the hill), in a time when Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, Poulbot, Picasso or Edith Piaf were living and working there.
3 - Sunday june 29th afternoon:
THE PALACE OF VERSAILLES ( from 1:30 pm to 6 pm (*))

55 € TTC per person
Price includes: Transportation, ticket and private guide

The Palace of Versailles was the official residence of the Kings of France from 1682 until 1790
THE GRAND APARTMENT
Once the private apartments of the King, these seven commanding rooms became “Les Grands Appartements”, exclusively used for reception, balls and other festivities in the second part of the reign of King Louis XIV. It was in these rooms that the famous “jours d’appartement” were held, which made the magnificent Versailles life-style known all over the world.
Marble panelling, sumptuous velvet fabrics covering the walls, antique busts and painted ceilings created by the most famous artists of the time of the Sun King form the setting of these “Grands Appartements”.
THE HALL OF MIRRORS
Created in the the 1670’s, this 73m long gallery had always been the setting for the most brilliant receptions given by the Court and remains the perfect example of the “Grand Siècle”, the French 17th century.
The ceiling decorated by Charles Le Brun, narrating the important moments of the reign of King Louis XIV competes in luxury with the huge mirrors facing the windows whose creation was a genuine technical achievement.
THE QUEEN’S APARTEMENT
These sumptuously decorated rooms introduce the visitor into the intimacy of several queens and princesses who lived and died here, gave birth to the Children of France (19 royal children were born here !) and received their intimates. The decoration of the queen’s bedroom is a perfect reconstruction of the one ordered by Marie-Antoinette before the outbreak of French Revolution.
THE CLASSICAL GARDENS
It is due to the genius of garden-architect Le Nôtre that the swampy and uneven grounds surrounding Versailles became the most perfect expression of a parc “à la française”. The long and straight alleys are lined with boscos, statues made of marble, bronze and lead; water ponds and basins interrupt the geometric conception of the gardens. The mythological equivalent to the Sun King, the Greek-Roman god Apollo, can be found everywhere.
Beyond the geometrically drawn lines of the “Petit Parc” (94 hectares) long alleys lead to the Great Canal, the Trianons and the Queen’s Dairy.

The wing of the Louvre on the bankside of the Seine river is for sure the place where most of the worldwide famous masterpieces of the museum are displayed. The last steps of your tour will bring you back under I.M.Pei’s glass Pyramid through the spectacular moats of the very first mediaeval Louvre, a huge fortress built on the right bank of the Seine river eight hundred years ago by the capetian king Philippe-Auguste...
